Gathering Graces 10/13/2018

*In August of 1981 I went through rush at the University of Idaho to join a sorority.  I chose and was chosen the the Delta Delta Delta house.  My sister Christy Woolum had been a TriDelt, and I followed in her footsteps.  There were 23 additional women chosen that August to also be pledges in the Tri Delt house.  Of that group of 24, 7 gathered together in Boise this weekend to reminisce, hug, laugh, and share a bit about the lives we have lived over the past 37 years since that “Squeal Day” when we all came together as pledges of DDD.  Of the women who joined us this weekend, we have three educators, a judge, a lawyer, and a doctor.  Two others joined us who also lived in the house when we did.  It was our “launch” of reunions to come for our pledge class, and we hope to gain more when we have our 90th TriDelta reunion in June in Moscow.  And we hope to plan another TriDelta pledge class of 1981 reunion next fall!!  A big thanks to Jennifer Kroos Haemmerle and Trish Smith Cassell (with minimal help from me), who helped spearhead this launching of gatherings to come!!
*The weather could not have been more beautiful today as we explored Boise.  After some coffee Jenn, Trish, Kristi and I walked down to the Boise Farmer’s Market and loved checking out all the vendors and seeing all the produce, flowers, food and crafts for sale.  Boise is fortunate to have such a wonderful event in their community.
*After walking through Freak Alley and looking at all the phenomenal art work, we stumbled across Even Stevens, a place with an outdoor sitting area with a fire pit.  We enjoyed some beverages and were later joined by Teresa Patrick.  We sat and visited in the beautiful Boise sunshine for about four hours.  In the middle of our visit, some familiar faces walked by....my longtime friend Kellee Crall Mills, her daughter Megan Mills, and their friend Lea Christine.  What a fun surprise to see them and visit for a bit as well.
*We drug ourselves away from the firepit, and walked back to our rental home in Hyde Park.  As we got to the house, Dedra Swanstrom joined us.  We all walked up the street to check out some of the cool little shops in the Hyde Park neighborhood.  Such fun little places in this area.
*After shopping, we went back to the house, and ordered some pizza.  Barbara Tesnohlidek, Sue Linja and Sarah Holman soon joined the group for dinner.  What a wonderful evening talking to people, and reconnecting.  I had seen a lot of these women at various Vandal events over the past four years, but we never had a chance to talk.  Tonight, we all had a chance to talk and see what was going on in each other’s lives, and reminisce about funny times while living in the Tri Delt house.  Keeping connections with people are important.  Many of these women I lived with for four years of my life.  We have had a lifetime happen between now and college.  But we all have a special bond, and that bond drew us together this weekend, and we just picked up where we left off, and the love continues to flow even now.  What a blessing!!
