Gathering Graces 12/23/2017

*The morning began as two of Santa’s elves, my sister Christy and myself, loaded up some trays of goodies and delivered them to the nursing home where Mom had lived. It was nice getting some hugs from some of the staff, and to wish them a Merry Christmas, and thank them all for their help when Mom lived there. We also talked to a few of the residents as well. Here I am delivering the goodies.

*I had one more stop at Yokes to finish up my shopping for the next couple of days. When I returned, Zoe and Cosette headed off the Coeur d’Alene for their last minute shopping.
*It was nice to have such a relaxing day today. I made some bread for tomorrow’s dinner, and also made a marinade for the pork roast and put the roast in the marinade to get ready to roast it tomorrow.
*Molly, Travis and Cosette met our friend Erin at Radio Brewery for dinner, and then they came here to visit afterward. It was so nice to see Erin and find out what she has been up to lately.
*Paul found a beautiful song that we are going to sing in church on Sunday morning. He will play guitar, and Zoe and I will sing.
*I love watching Christmas movies. Today I watched Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown. It has always been on of my favorites. Especially when Linus tells Charlie Brown what Christmas is all about.
Charlie Brown: I guess you were right, Linus. I shouldn't have picked this little tree. Everything I do turns into a disaster. I guess I really don't know what Christmas is all about.
[shouting in desperation]
Charlie Brown: Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?
Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about.
[moves toward the center of the stage]
Linus Van Pelt: Lights, please.
[a spotlight shines on Linus]
Linus Van Pelt: "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, 'Fear not:"
[Linus drops his security blanket on purpose]
Linus Van Pelt: "for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.'"
[Luke 2:8-14 KJV]
Linus Van Pelt: [Linus picks up his blanket and walks back towards Charlie Brown] That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.
*Yes, that is what Christmas is all about. About a baby being born in a manger, and he is our Savior, Christ the Lord. It is a very beautiful story. I find it quite amazing.
