The Story Collector

I have always enjoyed stories.  I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember.  I was read to at a very early age.

I enjoy interviewing people and learning their stories.

I enjoy listening as people share their stories.

The phrase "The Story Collector" all of a sudden came to my mind this past week.  This is part of what I want my future to be....I want to be a story collector.

We can learn so much from each other's stories.  Hearing other's stories can change our world view.

I learned a lot about story from author Madeleine L'Engle.  Here is one of my favorite quotes:
Reading stories, telling stories, listening to stories are all a part of our life experience.  It is how we learn.  It is how we grow.  It is how we connect with people.

All stories have merit.

I want to be a story collector.  I want to collect stories and share them with others, and make an impact on people's lives.

Everyone's story is important.  Everyone's story needs to be heard.

And I want to be a part of that process.

I just found your blog through a random click but I am going to subscribe. I love stories too, particularly true stories told live like "The Moth". It was my dream to go to see "The Moth Mainstage" and 2 years ago I did. It was sensational and now although I listen to their podcasts I dream that one day I will return. Stay with your story collection dream. I look forward to following. Jenny
