Knitting Fever

A Poem To Knit By

Under the fence
(Insert the tip of the right needle up into the center of the top loop on the left needle.)

Catch the sheep
(Wrap the yarn from back to front around the right (back) needle.)

Back we come

(Insert the tip of the rightneedle down into the center of the stitch on the left needle, then toward your body.)

Off we leap
(Pull the right needle up so that the stitch on the left needle slides off the tip of the left needle.)

I can to a lot of crafty things.

I just don't stay with one for very long.

I learned how to crochet and knit when I was in college.

Now, over the past 20 years or so, I occasionally pick up my knitting needles or my crochet hook and make something.

I was motivated yesterday to begin knitting again, because Z2 needed some lessons. She is rehearsing for Kellogg High School's upcoming drama production "Twelve Angry Women", and her character is knitting throughout the play. So she asked me to teach her how.

So I decided to get out my knitting needles and start on a project as well.

I started this scarf last night, and it is coming along nicely.

It kind of looks patriotic in this picture, but the third color is actually purple, not blue.

To refresh my memory, I always go back to using the information in this book:

It has nice, simple instructions on how to cast on, knit, purl and cast off. That is where I found the cute little knitting poem, too.

So, while I'm motivated, I'm taking advantage of the "knitting fever" that has come over me, and I hope to keep it going for some time.

I LOVE to knit it is the one thing my mother gave me, she taught me to knit from when I was about 6... I can do FairIsle and Aaron and Intrasca and I think about any stitch in the world lol - I use to have me own little designer knitwear thing going on and would do all the craft fairs and take so many orders etc...... Kid-n-Ewe .... I still have a boxfull of the labels I would sew into the seam..

I love your fluffy scarf, one of the older girls I mind made me an orange fluffy one last crimbo.....

Wow, I'm not even sure what all those stiches. I can knit, and might be able to do a purl stitch some day, but that is okay. Yes, I'm liking the looks of this scarf. I plan on it being pretty colorful. I'll post a picture when it is done. Kid-n-Ewe...that is cute!! I'm sure your knitwear creations were just as beautiful as their creator.

Oh hush with the nice words lol

Aaron is like the heavy thick fisherman jumpers with the cable patterns - Fairisle is very intricate patterns in soft thin pure wool, which orginated from the Scottish Shetland Isle or somewhere up there - Intrasia is where you knit and twist and turn many many different coloured yarns to form wonderful pictures etc... they are not stitches but more designs.... each have their own complicated patterns within...

The Kid-n-Ewe came about cos I use to design for children and adults and also only knit in pure wools and cottons..... as I do now...... I have 4 things on the go at the moment LOL.... expect yarn is WAY WAY expensive over here...

I use to knit out of french childrens knit books when me lads were younger, and never just the plan pale blues like others made LOL....

ok waffling on here cos you touched on a passion of mine LOL

Those sound so wonderful. I would love to see some pictures of what you have knit, if you ever have a chance to post some.

I live using that fluffy yarn, because it is very forgiving, and hides any mistakes I may make LOL!!
