Songs I Know from the Top 100 Hits List of 1971

Since I have been very delinquent in my sibling assignment’s this summer, Inland Empire Girl has tried to keep us all on track. Her latest for Sibling Assignment #71 is:

Valley Girl, how could I not comment on this post? I have just about every top 100 record from the years 1964-1975, and many from before and after those years. 1971 was a really good year for music. That year, I was living in Coeur d'Alene and going to the beach every day. I was 17 and my sister was 12; I remember that summer as being really great, even if our family-unit was dysfunctional.

I know almost every song word for word! 1971! My freshman year of High School. I was 15! I carried a transistor radio with me everywhere, and at night I drifted off to so many of these songs playing on my clock radio, at a very, very low volume of course. Wow, does that list take me back!

I can't believe you knew so many of these. I agree with idaho escapee- it was a good year for music, especially that summer. I can't believe the songs by the "family" groups... Osmonds, Partridge family, Jackson 5. The song that held the most memories for me was Maggie May... it was popular that late summer when CM went off to college. sigh. I can't wait for a mini-concert on One Toke Over The Line by Brewer and Shipley. I can't pull that one up in my memory bank. lol
