Gathering Graces 4/7/2020 Planting, Baking and Zooming...oh my!!

It was a very productive day around our house today.

Zoe made a strawberry rhubarb pie, and the top crust made it almost too hard to cut into and eat.

Zoe and I are on a mission to make pasties to share with family and friends.  Round one was completed today.

I had put my Morning Glory seeds in water two days ago, and needed to get them planted in some pots today so they can be transplanted once the weather starts getting nice.  I have nine pots of Grandpa Otto and nine pots of Heavenly Blue.  I also planted some Canterbury Bells.

At 5 p.m. one of my Tridelta pledge sisters set up a "Zoom Happy Hour".  We had 16 pledge sisters participating, from Colorado, California, Montana, Washington and Idaho.  It was so wonderful connecting with all these wonderful women.  Most are working from home.  Some it has not been much of a transition.  One of my friends is a judge in Blaine County here in Idaho.  I didn't realize until she said something that Blaine County has the highest infection rate in the country.  The country's cases per population means its rate is 2.5 times the rate of New York City.  This high rate was caused in part by a large gathering in early March at the Sun Valley resort where over 700 people attended some festivities at the resort, and 120 developed Covid-19 symptoms and eight needed hospitalization.  Two attendees have died.

Another friend on the call is a doctor in Meridian, and she said is not as bad as they had anticipated, and she is hoping that the curve has been lowered because of people staying home as they were asked.

One person on the call I hadn't seen since we graduated from college.  It was so great to connect.  We ae in the process of planning another reunion for here in north Idaho next October, and people are already making plans to attend!!

Many on the call are teachers who are working through the frustrations of learning online and distance learning with their students.  Overall, everyone looked great and were doing great, and I look forward to next week's call!!

Paul also took our bikes down to our local bike shop Excelsior Cycle to get our bikes tuned up and ready to ride, now that the weather is getting nice.

To help us accomplish our tasks each day, Zoe created a chart on one of the windows in our dining room to keep a calendar of things we are doing each day, and a To-Do list of things we want to accomplish.  It is coming in very handy.
